Indexical is a photoblog by Matthew Hollett, an artist, web designer, and art educator in Halifax, Nova Scotia Corner Brook, Newfoundland & Labrador.
I think of this blog as a photographic sketchbook; the idea is to post a new photo every day. Most photos are fresh from the camera, though if I get behind I sometimes post a few days at once, and I occasionally slip in older work. I shoot mostly with a Canon 500D, sometimes a PowerShot a720, Holga, or other cameras, and will probably dig out my Yashica-mat one of these days.
I maintained a previous photoblog, non*glossy, for about three years from 2003-2006. Finding something new to post each day is challenging – it keeps me constantly trying to see my surroundings in new ways. It also means that I spend a lot of time walking, which invariably results in good ideas happening.
There are some things I still plan to add to this site. Here’s my to-do list:
Tag photos with more metadata (location, camera, and so on).Done!Add links to other photoblogs I enjoy, especially local ones.Done!- Create an archives page so posts can be browsed visually, using thumbnail images.
I designed and coded this site while listening to Great Lake Swimmers and Old Man Luedecke. It’s powered by WordPress.
