Gerri Lynn Mackey made the Full Tilt sign, which was visible from across the bay.

Gerri Lynn Mackey's tuba performance. In the trailer in the background, Colette Urban collected stories about water.

Gerard Curtis and Chris Short stare at each other across the field, in a performance organized by Nick Meeter.

Attendees gather at the top of the field, with artworks by Neil Mclellan, Philip Robbins, and Colette Urban visible.

A performance work by Stefanie Goettling and Nick Meeter.

Some performance and installation artwork by Stockpile Artists Collective, at their second annual “Harvest” exhibition at Full Tilt Creative Centre in McIvers, Newfoundland. Most of the performances took place in this field, while other work was displayed in the nearby gallery space. There was a lot happening that is not pictured here, including work by Conor Curtis, Shawna Warmington, Nancy Jacobson, and others.

Parc Oxygène is a small community park in Montreal. Here is a short documentary video about efforts to preserve the park. You can read more at miltonparc.org. These musicians are the Chaotic Insurrection Ensemble.

Check out the AGNS website for descriptions of the various Nocturne projects.

I had a great time at Nocturne, Halifax’s answer to Nuit Blanche. Took in a lot of other works besides these, but my camera battery was running low all night so I was taking photos fairly sparingly. I really enjoyed Elinor Whidden’s Mountain Man show at the Khyber, and the Citizens performers who were freezing in place randomly. Wish I’d gotten to see more of the stuff happening in the North end. The photos are not in chronological order – we started in Dartmouth at Léola’s piece, then to the Port area and from there along Barrington and Granville to NSCAD. It was great to see so many people on the streets so late at night. We got booted out of the AGNS at closing time and couldn’t believe it was already midnight… Nocturne should really be an all-night event!
